2017’s Black History Month, Historica Canada was proud to host a special evening of storytelling and music in celebration of Canadian Black History: Black Canadian Trailblazers – Then and Now. To ring in Canada’s sesquicentennial year, we celebrated the achievements of historical and contemporary Black Canadians who have made significant contributions to Canada. Some of Canada’s most beloved local luminaries and leaders shared stories about their personal and professional journeys while acknowledging the work and legacy of other trailblazing Black Canadians who came before them. From personal anecdotes of heroes and mentors to historical accounts honouring the rich legacy of crusaders for change in this country, we were joined for an unforgettable evening of cocktails, canapés and powerful storytelling!
